剧情简介：
为了照顾患上精神分裂症的父亲罗伯特，年轻的凯瑟琳放弃学业开始了另外一种生活：在家一心一意照顾这位拥有极度天才的数学家父亲，同时她也悄悄地开始了自己的数学探索。父亲去世后，悲伤的凯瑟琳一度陷入混乱。姐姐克莱尔从纽约回家，一心要带她离开芝加哥到纽约，换个理想的环境过上正常生活。父亲的学生哈罗德来到凯瑟琳家，在整理老师遗留下来的一百多本笔记的过程中，爱上了敏感、狂热和倔强的凯瑟琳。这本是抚平凯瑟琳伤痛和让她面对未来人生的转折点，可是一本记录着数学论证的笔记本却横亘在两人的爱情路上，哈罗德不能相信其中记载的惊世论证是凯瑟琳的随笔之作，姐姐与爱人的不信任，又一次让凯瑟琳陷入了情感的伤痛之中。
Synopsis
Thedrama takes place in a Chicago porch and centres around 4 people: Catherine’smentally ill mathematician father named Robert who has just died, Catherine’solder sister named Claire who has come back home for their father’s funeral, aChicago University student named Hal who is attempting to glean knowledge fromRobert’s personal papers, and Catherine herself, a young woman who has spentthe last the five years of her life looking after her father。
Thestory begins when her older sister Claire arrives, expecting Catherine to sellher father's house and move with her to New York. Meanwhile, Hal discovers a brilliantmathematical proof amongst Robert’s papers, which Catherine announces to behers. Claire and Hal are, however, dismissive of Catherine’s claims. Addingfuel to the fire is Claire’s belief that her younger sister may have inheritedtheir father’s mental instability。

戴维‧奥本是美国著名的当代剧作家。1970年，戴维出生于美国芝加哥，目前定居于纽约曼哈顿。戴维成长于俄亥俄州和阿肯萨斯州。随后，他在芝加哥大学取得了英语文学学位，在那期间他还投身剧场，参加了一个名为“外外校园”的剧团写作及演出。他由于获得安培林娱乐公司的奖学金，并由此搬到了纽约，在茱莉亚音乐学院跟随戏剧大师玛霞•诺曼和克里斯托夫•杜朗学习了两年的剧本创作。他的第一部完整的戏剧——《摩天大楼》，于1997年在外百老汇上演。他的小品《关于未来，你相信什么？》登上了哈珀斯杂志并被搬上了大荧幕。他最出名的作品就是2000年所写的《求证》，该剧一举夺得了2001年的托尼奖最佳戏剧奖、普利策最佳戏剧奖等多个国际性大奖。
戴维还曾获得过海伦美林编剧奖和古根海姆奖学金。《求证》之后他还写了电影剧本《触不到的恋人》，由华纳公司于2006年出品，好莱坞巨星基诺•里维斯主演了此部电影。2007年，他导演了自己编剧的《公园里的女孩》，这也是他的导演处女作。
Playwright: DavidAuburn
DavidAuburn was born in Chicagoin 1970. He is an American playwright and now resident in Manhattan, New York.He was raised in Ohio and Arkansas. He attended the University of Chicago,where he was a member of Off-Off Campus, and received a degree in Englishliterature. Following a fellowship with Amblin Entertainment, he moved to New York City and spenttwo years in The Juilliard School's playwriting program, studying under thenoted dramatists Marsha Norman and Christopher Durang. His first full-lengthplay, Skyscraper, ran off-Broadway in1997. His short play, What Do You BelieveAbout The Future? appeared in Harper's Magazine and has since been adaptedfor the screen. He is best known for his 2000 play Proof, which won the 2001 Tony Award for Best Play, as well as the2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He has adapted it into a film, which wasreleased in 2005.
Hehas also been awarded the Helen Merrill Playwriting Award and a GuggenheimFellowship. Following Proof, he wrotethe screenplay for the movie The LakeHouse, released by Warner Bros. in 2006. In 2007, he made his directorialdebut with The Girl in the Park, forwhich he also wrote the screenplay。
