　　钟理和因与爱人同姓，婚事遭父母反对，私下带着恋人钟平妹远走奉天，数年后再返台湾。理和夫妇生活虽然困苦，但他仍不忘写作，立志成为作家，平妹从其志，时时鼓励。后罹患肺病，从此家计全赖平妹，平妹对他爱情不渝，而理和对写作满怀热情与执着，支撑着他们在艰苦中不被打倒，1960年理和旧病复发喀血而死，临终前手中握笔，稿上血迹斑斑。
