　　详细介绍: Zhang Ga is a village boy who always dreams of becoming a hero. He loves to hear the stories about his idol, Luo Jinbao who is a famous commander of a guerilla force – The Eighth Route. Amid the Sino-Japanese war, the Eighth Route receives intelligence that the Japanese Army will soon be transporting large shipments of weapons by a train, destined for the battlefields of the south, where the fighting is particularly intense. It becomes the mission of the Eight Route to hinder the train from delivering the military stock. And the Japanese Army is also aware of the threat of the Eight Route, thus trying to catch the important figure of them. Captain Zhong is in the list and he tries to hide himself from the Japanese Army in a village where Zhang Ga lives. Zhang Ga is excited and tries his best to help Captain Zhong. However, he fails, and more tragically, his grandmother is killed.

　　Bent on vengeance and harboring ambitions of soldiering, Zhang Ga sets out in search of the Eighth Route. Eventually, he meets his idol Luo Jinbao and realizes his dream of becoming a guerilla scout. Zhang Ga loves his new life and wishes to have his own real gun. On his first assignment, he uses his own fake wooden pistol to confiscate a real pistol from the target. The target in return is enlisted as a spy for the guerillas, and so Zhang Ga is ordered to return his prized new gun. Zhang Ga is upset but has no choice. This resentful young boy vents his frustration by getting into a fight with the village boy Pangdun and later clogs up the chimney at Pangdun’s home. On the second assignment, Zhang Ga by chance first experiences a real battle – he is excited and nervous, but he proves his mettle by single-handedly capturing a Japanese soldier. He is rewarded with a new gun that is then hidden in his own place. Captain Sakuragi, in charge of the delivery, notices the activities of the Eight Route and thus runs a well-disciplined organization to make sure no mistake. He carries out a plan to ensure the safe shipment of the munitions by taking large numbers of peasant and Captain Zhong hostage in the train. Per their orders to destroy the munitions transport, the Eight Route has planted the bombs at a bridge along the train’s path. But when they learn that Captain Zhong and villagers are imprisoned on the train, the brigade becomes desperate: unable to defuse the bombs in time, they are helpless to save their comrades and villagers on the train… … Zhang Ga learns about the situation and is ambitious to save them. Zhang Ga climbs atop the train and clogs the smokestack with a tarpaulin. Soon after departure, the train is temporarily brought to a halt by Zhang Ga’s act of sabotage. He utilizes this opportunity to sneak aboard the train. By the time, the guerillas have arrived and triggered a fierce fire exchange with the Japanese Army.
