Zonbo Media
Zonbo Media is one of the first companies that got film and drama production certificate. As a professional media company, Zonbo Media is engaged in investment, production, and distribution of film, drama, and new media content. Based in China and with Asian market as the center of international business, Zonbo Media has distributed and invested various films and dramas. Meanwhile, Zonbo Media is actively engaged in the investment, development, production, and distribution of video content on the uprising new media platform.
In film and drama area, Zonbo Media boasts of over ten years of experiences and has become a creative company with unique production characteristics. “Crying Fist” that Zonbo Media invested and produced won “the International Critics Prize in Director Fortnight Session” at the 58th Cannes Film Festival in 2005. And film “Devils on the Doorstep”, a Zonbo Media production, won Jury Prize of the 53rd Cannes Film Festival in 2000. Zonbo Media is the forerunner to enter Korean market. For years Zonbo Media has invested, produced, and distributed Korean films and dramas. Zonbo Media also distributed many internationally acclaimed Chinese films in Korea, such as Zhang Yimou’s “Hero”, “House of Flying Daggers”, and “Curse of the Golden Flower”, and Chen Kaige’s “the Promise”. Zonbo Media invested and produced Korean film “Crying Fist”, “April Snow”, and “Le Grand Chef”. Zonbo Media also invested and produced more than ten TV dramas, such as “Coming and Going”, “How Long is Forever”, and “Opposite Houses and Faces”, just to name a few. Meanwhile, Zonbo Media also worked with the largest 3 TV stations of Korea(namely SBS, KBS, and MBC) and invested/produced Sino-Korean dramas, such as “Beijing, My Love”, “Flying Sky Dance” , and “Remember”. All those contributed a lot to the communication in film & drama industry between Korea and China.
In new media industry, Zonbo Media is an integrated new media operator based on video content production and distribution. Zonbo Media took the lead to enter such new media platforms as Internet, mobile phone, and outdoors mobile platform. In 2005, Zonbo Media produced “FOCUS: this Moment”, the first mobile phone films collections in China, which was the very beginning of Chinese streaming films. In 2006 Zonbo Media launched “China Mobile Phone Film Festival” and made Xi’an City Declaration, which defines form and standard of mobile phone film. It has great importance even in the history of world cinema. In 2005 Zonbo Media won “the Most Cool Company in China” honor awarded by FORTUNE magazine for its achievements in short films. In 2006 Zonbo Media was named one of “the 8 Most Competitive Film/Drama Companies in China” by YANGCHENG EVENING NEWS newspaper. In 2007 Zonbo Media won the honor of “the 10 Most Innovatively Competitive Media Companies of China” awarded by China Economy Newspaper Society and Industry & Culture Institute of Beijing University.
As the first integrated new media operator, Zonbo Media focuses on new media content, audience, and market. Through integrated content, broadcasting platforms, and corresponding marketing and PR events, Zonbo Media provides clients with integrated marketing solutions. To commemorate the 100th year of China movie, Zonbo Media invited 8 young Chinese directors to produce “FOCUS: this Moment”, which served as the marketing event of Ford Company to launch its new car FOCUS. The marketing event was honored as “the First Case of New Media Marketing in China” and won the marketing award in automobile industry in China. In 2006 Zonbo Media invited Fruit Chan, an established artistic director from Hong Kong, to shoot short film “A+B=C”, which is about the story of “new bad men”. This short film helped Charles River, a famous French men’s costume brand to enter the Chinese market. The event became the most successful case to promote costume through Internet marketing. In 2007 Zonbo Media’s short film “Xi’an Story” helped Xi’an city government to publicize Xi’an city image at home and abroad through broadcasting and international festival. It showed the new city image of Xi’an to the world effectively through a short film.
Zonbo Media is the first new media company in China that successfully got investment from IDG VC, IDG New Media, and Mr. Wang Gongquan, a famous VC investor. From 2005, Zonbo Media began to embrace international practice. Each year Zonbo Media has auditing by international accounting firms. “FOCUS: this Moment”
Client: Focus of Ford automobile
- “FOCUS: this Moment” is the first mobile phone films collection, which are produced to market and promote the launch of FOCUS, a new car of FORD automobile.
- “FOCUS: this Moment” shows individuality of FOCUS. It helped Ford to launch FOCUS successfully and saved about 40 thousand yuan for Ford. The films won Marketing award in the automobile industry in 2005. Nanfang Daily and the Beijing News, two leading newspapers in China, praise it as “One of the Most Influential Marketing Events”.
- “FOCUS: this Moment” is appraised as “the First Marketing Case in New Media Industry in China”.
“A+B=C”
Client: Charles River, a man costume brand
- “A+B=C” is the new media marketing case that helped famous French costume “Charles River” to enter Chinese market in 2006.
- Mobile film “A+B=C”, directed by Hong Kong director Fruit Chan and starring by Hu Jun, Li Xiaoran, and Guo Xiaodong, was screened at Hong Kong Independent Film and Video Award in 2007. It was the most successful case to market costume brand through Internet in 2006.

- “Xi’an Story” is the first mobile film to promote the image of a city in China. It is the short film that Zonbo Media produced for Xi’an city government in 2006, which is meant to promote the new image of Xi’an city to the world.
- “Xi’an Story” has participated many international film festivals, such as Hong Kong Int’l Film Festival in 2007, Busan Asian Short Film Festival in 2007(competition), Taipei Film Festival in 2007, and Vladivostok Int’l Film Festival(2007).

Client: Nanning Folk Song Festival
- “Song Lovers” is a short film that is produced to promote the image of Nanning Folk Song Festival in 2006. Through romantic love story, the film shows the charm of folk song, humanity and natural scenery of Nanning city, and the influence of Nanning Folk Song Festival.
- “Song Lovers” boasts of over 10 million views on Internet, which promotes the popularity of Nanning Folk Song Festival and brings great value to the tourism industry and city development of Nanning.
“48-hour Interactive Mobile Phone Film Competition”
Client: various district governments in Chengdu
- “48-hour Interactive Mobile Phone Film Competition” is a mobile film that Jinjiang District, Jinniu District, Wuhou District, and Longquanyi District of Chengdu produced to show the culture of those districts and the trend of Chengdu in 2007.
- “48-hour Interactive Mobile Phone Film Competition” organizer selected 100 students from 10 universities. Each student produced a film of 5 to 10 minutes in 48 hours, which made up the largest new media Internet platform on campus.
