范妮-沃特曼
出生于利兹的范妮-沃特曼在世界钢琴教育界享有盛望。青年时代一度从事演奏生涯之后,她意识到还是从事钢琴教学是她真正的兴趣所在。1959年,英国时报称她为“神奇般的范妮-沃特曼”。她的学生中和她所指导过的钢琴家中有许多人在各种国际比赛中获奖,其中有利兹比赛,鲁宾斯坦比赛,柴可夫斯基比赛,布左尼比赛及纽约的梅西安比赛和青年演

Fanny Waterman
Fanny Waterman, born in Leeds, occupies a pre-eminent position in the piano teaching world. After a notable performing career, she felt teaching was her real vocation. By 1959, The Times could refer to her as “the now legendary Fanny Waterman”. Her pupils and students with whom she has worked have been top prizewinners in many international piano competitions including the Leeds, Rubinstein, Tchaikovsky, Busoni, the Concours Messian and the Young Concert Artists in New York.
Over the years, she has given master classes on all five continents and appeared on television and radio. With Marion Harewood she has compiled a series of publications, which consist of 31 volumes.
In 1963, she founded, jointly with Marion Harewood, the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition, which is now known as, certainly, one of the major piano competitions in the world.
For many years she has been in great demand to serve on the juries of piano competitions in all five continents. In 1992, she was elected Vice-president of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, and was re-elected for further years in 1993 and 1997.
Among honours, which she has received, are Officer of thesgroupsof the British Empire from HM the Queen in 1971 and Honorary Doctorates at the University of Leeds and York as well as Fellowship of the Royal College of Music, London and the Leeds College of Music.
