Swan Lake

Swan Lake is undoubtedly the most popular one of a11 classical ballets.It is also the solid foundation,with the Russian ballet artist Pyotr Gusev laid for the Chinese Ballet in 1958.It brings special memories to generations of ballet artists and dancers of China.In 2003,choreographers of the National Ballet of China staged a new version of Swan Lake,Through their explorations,the Chinese ballet artists show their own interpretation of this classical balle.
Prologue
The kind and beautiful princess Odette is picking flowers leisurely in the garden. She is caught under the magic spell of an evil sorcerer Von Rotbart, who turns her into a swan.
ACT I, Scene 1
It is prince Siegfried¡¯s birthday. People gather and dance merrily to celebrate the occasion. The Queen comes and presents him a sword to indicate the Prince¡¯s coming of age. Before leaving, she informs the Prince that he should select his future wife at the next court ball. This is totally unexpected for the Prince. The Cabinet Minister and the Jester attempt to restore the sprite of the happy occasion by inviting everyone to drink and inviting the Prince to dance together.
Night begins to fall, the Prince is left alone ----
ACT I, Scene 2
A flock of swans fly pass. The Prince cannot refrain from running after them -----
Beside the quiet swan lake, the Prince sees a swan becomes the most beautiful girl Odette. They both fall in love at first sight. Odette tells the Prince that only the loyal love of a young man can remove the curse. Prince Siegfried vows to love Odette forever. The evil Rotbart appears suddenly and Odette leaves in a hurry. The Prince picks up a feather she dropped behind.
ACT II, Scene 1
At the court ball for the Prince to select his future wife, Princesses from various countries come as prospective brides for the Prince. Siegfried pays no attention to them. Disguised as a knight, Rotbart brings his daughter Odile, disguised as the black swan to tempt the Prince. Siegfried mistakes Odile for Odette, and vows to love her forever. Thus, the Prince breaks his promise to Odette.
Odette is anxiously calling outside the palace. The Prince recklessly runs towards the lake.
ACT II, Scene 2
Odette cries with grief, telling the swan maidens about their tragic fate. There is no salvation for them to turn back into young girls. Prince Siegfried asks for forgiveness, but it is already too late. The swan maidens sadly leave him. Siegfried fights with the evil Rotbart. The water of the lake rises towards the sky and drowns the Prince. With the help of the swans, Prince Siegfried recovers and is full of energy again. He continues to fight with Rotbart until totally exhausted. Prince Siegfried and the evil Von Rotbart perish together.
Epilogue
Odette and the swan maidens are sadly crying by the lake, mourning for the Prince. They reluctantly fly towards the sky.
