premiered in 1995.

Prologue

The Christening: The king calls for a grand christening celebration to which all the fairies of the kingdom are invited to bestow their blessings on his daughter, Aurora. As the fairies present their gifts, they are interrupted by the arrival of Carabosse£¬who is enraged and insulted that the king forgot to invite her to the ceremony. Carabosse announces her curse that Aurora will one day die from pricking her finger with a spindle. Luckily the Lilac Fairy has yet to give her present. She declares that although Aurora will prick her finger but she will not die, instead she will fall into a deep sleep from which she will be awoken by the kiss of a prince. Concerned for her daughter¡¯s safety, the king orders a complete absence of any kind of spindles in the Palace.

Act 1
The birthday ball: It is Princess Aurora's sixteenth birthday and the celebration begins with villagers welcoming the arrival of princes seeking her hand. An unknown guest approaches her with an unusual gift-a spindle. While looking at it, Aurora pricks her finger and, after revealing her disguise, Carabosse vanishes. The Lilac Fairy appears and casts a spell of sleep over the Palace.

Act 2
The Vision: Prince Florimund is hunting with members of his court. Strangely unhappy, he seeks solitude to reflect on his ideal love. The Lilac Fairy appears, presents a vision of Aurora, and heeds his plea to take him to the place where the lovely vision sleeps. After a journey, they come to an overgrown palace where, following a confrontation between the forces of good and evil, the Prince awakens Aurora with a kiss.

Act 3
The Wedding: The Court is jubilant for the wedding celebrations of Princess Aurora and Prince Florimund. The guests include fairy characters coming to give their respects to the radiant couple. Their joy is complete when the Lilac Fairy appears and gives her blessing on their happy union.
