殷 承 宗
殷承宗1941年出生于有“音乐摇篮”之美誉的厦门鼓浪屿。9岁即举行钢琴独奏音乐会。12岁入上海音乐学院附中。60年代赴前苏联深造,毕业于列宁格勒音乐学院和北京中央音乐学院。17岁他在维也纳世界青年联欢节钢琴比赛获第一名;20岁荣获柴科夫斯基国际钢琴比赛第二名。 回国后, 他荣任中国中央乐团首席钢琴演奏家。在频繁的演奏生涯中,他成
功地将西方的钢琴演奏艺术与中国民族艺术完美地结合而蜚声中外,被誉为一代“天骄”。1980年他作为中国四大音乐家之一,被载入英国新格罗夫音乐辞典。他1983年首次在美国纽约卡内基厅成功地举行了音乐会,被《纽约时报》誉为中国最优秀的钢琴家。
数十年来,他在中国、美国及世界各地巡回演出。所到之处无不受到欢迎,并成功地录制了中、外钢琴名曲,深受广大音乐爱好者的好评,称赞他的演奏“结构严谨、声音纯正、色彩丰富”,“炉火纯青的演奏技巧和丰富的感情世界使他的演奏别具魅力”。
他改编、主创和首演的脍炙人口的“黄河”钢琴协奏曲和其他中外名曲,获得亿万听众的好评,成为钢琴音乐的经典之作。
殷承宗1983年定居美国纽约。他曾任克利夫兰音乐学院教授和常任演奏家,多次出任国际重大钢琴比赛评委。他培养的许多学生在重大国际钢琴比赛中获奖。
2000年9月,殷承宗艺术生涯50周年世界巡回演出音乐会在波士顿著名的交响乐音乐厅拉开了序幕,之后他成功地在美国、俄罗斯和中国各大城市举行音乐会,于2001年在纽约卡内基音乐厅落下巡回演出的帷幕。对此,各国媒体给予极高评价,称赞此次巡回演出活动的成功无愧于“50年的辉煌”。
他担任2002年在厦门举行的第四届柴科夫斯基国际青少年音乐比赛总评委会主席。
Yin Chengzong
Yin Chengzong was born in Gulangyu Island, reputed as “the cradle of music” in Xiamen. He gave his first piano recital at the age of 9. After three years, he entered the Middle School attached to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and in the 1960s he received advanced music education in the former Soviet Unionswhereshe graduated from the St. Petersbourg Conservatory of Music. He also got a Graduate Certificate from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. He won the 1st Prize at the World Youth Peace Festival Piano Competition in Vienna at the age of 17 and shared Second Place at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow when he was 20. Returning to China, he was appointed soloist at the Central Philharmonic Society in Beijing. In the long years of performance, he successfully combined the Western piano performing art with the Chinese national folk art and enjoyed high reputation in China as well as abroad. For this, he was called a “God’s favoured person.”. In 1980, he was one of the four great Chinese musicians enclosed in the New Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians published in U.K.. In 1983, he successfully gave his debut in Carnegie Hall in New York and was praised by the New Times as “the best Chinese pianist.”
In the past decades, he made concert tours in China, U.S.A. and other parts of the world . His performances of Chinese piano music and the Western standard repertoire were acclaimed by the the audience everywhere.. He also made a lot of recordings. Music lovers praised his performance “well-knitted in structure, pure in tone and rich in color” and “the pianist has attained the acme of perfection in performing technique, his inner emotion helped him to possess with magic power in playing. “
The widely beloved “Yellow River Concerto” scored for piano and orchestra, chiefly rearranged and premiered by him, and other famous music pieces were warmly welcomed by thousands and thousands listeners. These piano pieces have become classics of the present days.
Yin Chengzong settled down in New York since 1983. He has been professor and artist-in-residence at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has served as a jury member in major international piano competitions. Many of his students have won top prizes.
Yin Chengzong started his world concert tour in September 2000 at the famous Boston Symphony Hall to mark his 50 years art’s life. He gave successful concerts in many metropolises in the USA., Russia and China and concluded the tour at the Carnegie Hall in New York in 2001. Mass medium of different countries gave high praises to him, saying the tour deserves to be called “a glorious life of 50 years.”
He is the General Chairman of the Jury Panel of the 4th Tchaikovsky International Music Competition for Young Musicians in 2002 which is taking place in Xiamen, China.
